Structure for a good job
#1
Shorah guys, I will use this corner to give an indication about what can be useful for a good development team. For first, and this can not like to someone, but is necessary only a manager. This because if there isn't can come many problems in the developement job because anyone will work acordind his desire. This create only confusion and increment the job time useless.
Second, if someone makes a commitment, he must be ready to complete it, as far as possible of course.
Third, and most importantly, communicate a lot: otherwise you will have to go back and forth very often and this could create frustration.
That's just my opinion of course, but that's what we're here for, right? To evaluate all our ideas. : Thumb-up:
Shorah and good job all.

Thank you very much for writing, JJJ! Thumb-up

When I originally set up this forum in 2007, this topic was intended for discussion of how we would set up a Guild Of Writers. At that time, there was a lot of talk about how Official Guilds should be run, with hierarchies and structure and so on.

But since then, it became apparent that
A) we are such small numbers of talented, eclectic and opinionated tech wizards and artists that no one wants to be told how they must work, and really
B) we are all volunteer workers, so if it isn't fun we don't do it, and
C) for the most part this partial lack of structure really works pretty well, we all get along better this way, we do discuss a lot using our many options (forums, email, IRC, Discord, etc.) and we get more accomplished!*

That's regarding having Official Guilds. On an Agebuilding project, I think it helps when everyone on the project can offer their opinions about things, where discussion is open, and when decisions are made using a democratic process. On the Adrael project, Clat, Lillus and I all offered our thoughts on this subject at http://adrael.com/WhatWeLearned.html As you say: just my own opinion!

I agree 100% with you that communication is essential, and that people must be clear about whether they can complete each step of a project once they have committed themselves to it. (I do believe it helps when people can just commit to small steps of a project rather than biting off too much at a time).

* There was a little conversation about this subject here in this thread (and in the "Membership" thread) that got deleted when I made a mistake in clearing out a lot of SPAM messages on one of the occasions this forum was attacked. I tried to get it back - but failed. Shrug

Interesting way of looking at it.

But I dont think because we dont become a success rags to riches theory that we have failed. Thats to black and white for me.

But I definitely believe we need to experience the bad in order to appreciate the good.
